The Flash needs a director, badly. After reports that Sam Raimi, Matthew Vaughn, and Robert Zemeckis were being considered, DC's biggest fan is seemingly throwing his name into the discussion.
Upon seeing that Raimi possibly passed on helming The Flash for the DCEU, Kevin Smith took to Twitter to let everyone know he'd be interested in taking charge of the movie.
The director quoted CBR's report on Raimi's choice to pass, and tweeted out the message, "I know of at least one Director who wouldn't pass. (But to be fair, he's more of a 'director' than a Director...)"
Smith is obviously talking about himself in this tweet, as made evident by his trademark self-deprecating humor. It's evident he's making a joke about the open position, but there's a bit of truth in everything. Could he be trying to land the job himself?

Let's be honest, this wouldn't be too far out of left field. One could argue that no other filmmaker in Hollywood knows comics as well as Kevin Smith. The guy lives and breathes this stuff. And on top of that, he's already had experience directing DC properties, helming multiple episodes of The Flash and Supergirl on The CW.
Perhaps a lifelong fan boy with a heart full of humor is exactly what The Flash needs.
