We've known about the game for a few months now, but it's finally time to get excited for Forza Motorsport again, as the latest entry in the series was revealed today to open up Microsoft's E3 press conference.

The game footage opens with a driver slowly approaching their vehicle while walking through the desert. And, by the way, it looks freakin' amazing at the amount of detail being pumped out of the Xbox One X processor. (It'll look fine on Xbox One S as well, of course.)

From there, we get into the racing action, with supercars roaring along the tracks, through a variety of weather conditions and competition from other racers. Thus far, the footage looks very impressive, really representing the thrill of racing across a number of circuits, including casual and Formula-based races.

The press conference also featured the debut of a new Porsche 911 GT2RS model that will make its debut within the game, a slick sportscar that you'll be able to race within the game. There's no word yet if it'll be unlocked right from the get-go, or if you need to purchase it, but either way, we're going to be screaming this one down the track.

We then got to check out a pair of professional drivers playing within the game, racing through the Nurburbring and in Dubai, using the power of Xbox One X to bring the racing to life. It looks amazing based on the demo, with the Porsche weaving its way through traffic. The demo only ran at about 30 FPS when we saw it in action, but the game will assuredly run at 60 frames per second, so it'll look beautiful on Microsoft's new hardware.

On top of that, the gameplay seems to make the racing more "epic" than ever before, while retaining all the great gameplay we've come to expect from the Forza series, so that you feel every thrilling moment of action, whether you prefer arcade racers or simulation.

The trailer can be seen above, but keep watching the Xbox press conference for more great footage from the game. It really is a thing of beauty.

Forza Motorsport 7 will release on October 3rd for Xbox consoles and Windows 10.
