Caity Lotz took to social media to share a photo of her superhero physique and hit back at body-shamers -- although maybe not the usual suspects.

Typically when a celebrity has to clap back against fans who comment on their bodies, it tends to be of the "too fat/too skinny" variety. For Lotz, her athletic build apparently used to draw playground ire from people who claimed she was too masculine.

"When I was young I used to get called a boy & made fun of for being so muscular," Lotz tweeted. "It made me feel insecure about my body. Now I get to be like [f--- you], I'm a superhero."

You can see the full tweet below.

Lotz plays Captain Sara Lance, leader of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and first joined the superhero ranks on Arrow. Sara was first the Canary, and then the White Canary after she died and was reborn as a Legend.

In a Hollywood full of men who have to bulk up, slim down, or muscle up to play superhero roles, most women are expected to be more pretty and feminine than hard and tough. Sara Lance breaks the mold a little bit.

During this week's episode of Legends of Tomorrow, Zari (Tala Ashe) was describing Sara to Helen of Troy (guest star Bar Paly), and said that Lance was a "self-made woman" who trained every day and was a "total badass."

"Everyone has different body types; the goal of working out isn't to be something you're not. It's to feel good and be healthy," Lotz finished.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, following new episodes of The Flash.
