Fans have been waiting for more of A Certain Magical Index, and it seems like their patience may be rewarded soon. A variety program recently posted (and redacted) news about the third season, but the blip is enough to make fans hopeful.

Earlier this week, Animax's Anime Culture Club posted a preview of its upcoming episode with Kohei Kawase. The guest is the producer of A Certain Magical Index, and Kawase did the variety program with editor and producer Kazuma Miki. Animax posted a a blurb to its website about event, but its caption is what caught fans off-guard.

You can check out the site's now-deleted program description below:

"A Certain Magical Index Season 3's Broadcast Green-Lit! A Certain Magical Index, captivating many fans since season 1 began airing in 2008 and season 2 in 2010. Over six years later, the broadcast of season 3 has been green-lit! About a decade after season 1, what kind of story will turn out?"

The website was quick to remove the paragraph in question, but fans are wondering if the announcement was a simple mistake or a confirmation of yet-publicized information.

There is reason to believe that a new season of A Certain Magical Index may be announced soon. Producers and the series' creators have told fans to be patient about the anime's comeback. October is known for announcing new anime titles, and the month will kick off with the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival; The event promises to inform fans of "new work announcements" on October 1, so fans may be in luck.

If you are not familiar with A Certain Magical Index, then you should know the series is a popular one. It is set in a world where supernatural abilities are commonplace. The series follows Toma Kamijo, a student who can negate the powers of others. He meets a mysterious girl named Index who's on the run from the church, and Toma discovers the true dangers of society's super-powered state.
