'My Hero Academia' Creator Comments On Upcoming Film

It hasn't been long since My Hero Academia made its way to anime, but Bones isn't going soft with the series. This week, reports surfaced that Kohei Horikoshi's hit series would be getting a movie, and the creator has now commented on the project.

Over in Japan, the official announcement for My Hero Academia's debut movie went live with a statement from Horikoshi. The writer said he was still having trouble believing how lucky his series has been and hopes fans will look forward to its first film.

"Deku and his friends make their surprising debut on the silver screen! At the time I was told there was going to be a movie, I could scarcely believe it, but when it was clear that is was going to happen, I was super happy," the artist revealed.

"Of course the movie will be filled with Class A's great efforts, that character's past that hasn't been in the manga yet, flashy action scenes, and much more. Please look forward to it!"

Fans are excited to hear that My Hero Academia will not be spending its movie minutes with a recap venture. The hugely popular series isn't an annual title, so it does not have all that many episodes to recap. Horikoshi's words make it sound like the film will be an original yet canon addition to the franchise which his manga has yet to touch - and fans are saying that kind of story is fine by them.

For those who aren't familiar with My Hero Academia, the manga by creator Kohei Horikoshi began publishing back in July 2014. Bones Studios adapted the series into an anime in 2016, and the series has quickly become a phenomenon. My Hero Academia takes place in a world full of people with quirks, which you might recognize as superpowers. Except Izuku Midoriya doesn't have one.

Izuku Midoriya has always wanted to be a hero, but he was born without a quirk. When the world's leading superhero All-Might chooses Izuku to be his successor, the boy's world is turned upside-down as he gains a quirk, a new school, and a set of very dangerous enemies.
