If you are quite ready to duel, then you have a bit of time to get comfortable with Duel Monsters. Shortly after Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V wrapped, the folks behind the franchise are moving forward with a new anime. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will be the next anime title to enter the fan-favorite franchise, and fans have been waiting anxiously for its debut after an unexpected delay got in their way. And, now, it looks like fans have learned when the new Yu-Gi-Oh! series will have its premiere.

In the latest issue of V-Jump, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS made a major announcement about its premiere and villains. The show is set to air on May 10th on TV Tokyo. There is no word yet on whether the show will be simulcasted on sites like Crunchyroll at this time. As for the anime’s end theme, the track will be done by ้พ้ -๏ผฒ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ๏ฝ-, and its name is “Believe In Magic.”
The magazine also gave fans a first-look at the anime’s villains. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will feature a shadowy group knowns as the Knights of Hanoi who continue to hack into the Duel Monsters’ new VR world. Two members of the villainous group had their character designs revealed, and their go-to cards are said to be the Cracking Dragon and Bomber Dragon respectively. You can check out the images here.

“There is a city where network systems have evolved: Den City. In this city, with the advanced network technology developed by the corporation “SOL Technology,” a Virtual Reality space called “LINK VRAINS” has been developed, and in this VR Space people became excited over the latest way to Duel.
However, in LINK VRAINS, a mysterious hacker group that hacks via Dueling has appeared:The Knights of Hanoi. Their goal is to destroy the “AI World” known as “Cyberse” that exists somewhere in the depths of the Network.
However, there is one Duelist who stands against the threat to LINK VRAINS. His name is “Playmaker”. He has become famous in the Network World for crushing the “Knights of Hanoi” in fierce Duels without mentioning his name. But the true identity of “Playmaker” is ordinary high school student Fujiki Yusaku, who pursues the “Knights of Hanoi” that appear in VRAINS in order to find out the truth of an incident that happened in the past.”
As for the cast, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will be headed up by a team of anime veterans. Takahashi Kazuki created the original idea along with Studio Dice. Masahiro Hosoda will director, and fans will know the man his work on Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
