Denver Comic Con 2012 Promises Mile-High Times!!

Summer comic book convention season is upon us, and in the next several weeks many towns and cities will be having their own special conventions, with guests both local and national, spanning the various aspects of comic books, television, film, animation and video games.  All of this is of course building up to the one that draws the most attention, Comic Con in San Diego.  However, that doesn't mean that there's any shortage of fun, celebrity sightings or comic books to be had at the other cons!  Just consider taking a look at this weekend's Denver Comic Con, located at the Colorado Convention Center, located at 700 14th Street in Denver.  A literary conference kicks off the event on June 13th, this Wednesday, and then on Friday the 15th, the comic convention begins.  Take a look below at our preview of this mile-high event!

If all-star guests are what you look for in a convention, than this con is not going to disappoint!  Leading off the celebrity guest roster will be James Marsters, known best for his iconic role as Spike in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and as Brainiac on Smallville.  Joining Marsters will be Kristen Bauer, known for her role as the sultry and intriguing Pam on the HBO series True Blood.  One of the stars of the cult hit Fringe, Jasika Nicole who plays agent Astrid Farnsworth, will also be attending.  Joining them will be several talents from the world of animation, with names such as Billy West, Tom Kane, and Khary Payton.  These big names are just the tip of the iceberg!

The comic book talent alone is worth the price of admission.  Allen Bellman will be on hand, a man considered to be one of the earliest people to steer the direction and shape comics back in the days of Timely.  It is a true delight to have them there.  Other icons such as Mike Baron, Herb Trimpe, Bob Layton and Mike Grell will all be in attendance for this event, as well as noted author and artist Neal Adams.  Some of DC's hottest writers and artists will also be attending, including Gail Simone of Batgirl, Amy Reeder (Batwoman) and Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.'s Matt Kindt.  There will be an entire gathering of talent there, with others including Peter Gross, Sean Gordon Murphy, Georges Jeanty, Jason Strutz, and many, many others.  Be ready to get your sketchbook full, and be sure to stop by and chat with these artists and writers when you have the chance!

The convention will also feature attractions such as a horror film festival from local directors and filmmakers.  Also, several panels for the convention are promised in addition to a Heroclix tournament.  The festivities begin when doors open at 6Pm on Friday the 15th until 1o that night.  Then, on Saturday, the show runs from 10-6 with a 10-5 time frame on Sunday rounding things out.  If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and investigate!
