Back in October of last year, AMC officially renewed The Walking Dead for a fifth season, which was no big surprise considering the show's ratings. However, AMC did not make any announcement concerning The Walking Dead after show, which is called Talking Dead. On Friday, Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick mentioned at the Television Critic Association's winter press tour that he expected the show to return, considering it was beating NBC in the ratings, even though no official announcement had been made. Talking Dead attracted a series-high 6 million viewers after The Walking Dead Season 4 Mid-Season Finale. Hardwick also indicated that he would be willing to keep doing the show as long as AMC wanted him to come back. It turns out that Hardwick didn't have to wait long to get the official word. At AMC's TCA presentation today, the network officially announced that the Talking Dead had been renewed for a fifth season. The fifth season of the Talking Dead will premiere in October along with The Walking Dead Season 5 Premiere, but no exact October date was announced. "We are extremely excited about the 2014 line-up," said Charlie Collier, AMC President and General Manager. "Both the returning and new series reflect our commitment to serving passionate audiences with compelling, character-driven story-telling."
