Earlier Today, Disney finally announced the cast for Star Wars Episode VII. The cast included the actors from the originally trilogy, but also a whole new group of young actors ready to make their Star Wars debut. If you don't know who they are, consider this articles an introduction. John Boyega

John Boyega

Long rumored to be on the shortlist of actors still being considered for a lead role in Episode VII, John Boyega is a British-Nigerian actor who is best known for his his role in Attack the Block as Moses, the leader of a street gang who must defend their inner city neighborhood in South London from an alien invasion. More recently, he has appeared in My Murder and Imperial Dreams. Boyega is a relative unknown who is just waiting for the right film to turn him into a star (seriously, go watch Attack the Block. It's fantastic, and he's fantastic in it). If he's the lead protagonist, which seems likely, then Star Wars could do just that for him.

Adam Driver

Adam Driver Adam Driver is an ex-marine and the new villain in the Star Wars universe. Driver is best known for role as Adam on the Lena Dunham's HBO series Girls, though he also appeared in Inside Llewyn Davis and has experience on Broadway.

Daisy Ridley Daisy Ridley is a newcomer. Her best known work is a short film called Blue Season. Besides that, her credited work comprises of several guest appearances on episodes of British television shows. It's possible she's playing the daughter of Han and Leia, which would certainly help make a name for her. Oscar Isaacs

Oscar Isaac was recently in the spotlight for his lead role in the Oscar-nominated Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. Past film credits include The Life Before Her Eyes, Body of Lies, and Agora. He's a rising star and his role in Inside Llewyn Davis makes him one the most recognizable actors in the film, besides the original cast members.

Andy Serkis You probably know who Andy Serkis is. The British actor and director played (with the help of motion capture technology) Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, King Kong in Peter Jackson's King Kong, Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Captain Haddock in The Adventures of Tintin. Given his track record, it seems likely that Serkis will be providing motion capture for a digitally created alien character.

He's also an accomplished writer and theater actor, having been nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the 2006 Broadway production of The Lieutenant of Irishmore.

Fans of the cult classic 1980 Flash Gordon film will remember him as Ming the Merciless, but over his career he has had roles in many films, including Through a Glass Darkly, The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Emigrants, The Exorcist and Three Days of the Condor, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Robin Hood and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. He'll be a veteran actor on the set, though what role he plays is still unkown.
