The Expendables star (and action movie icon) Dolph Lundgren definitely put in the work(outs) for his role in DC's Aquaman movie, as you can see for yourself in this new photo the actor shared on his Facebook page:
In Aquaman, Lundgren plays Nereus, the warrior king of the Xebel, a dimension of water in the Bermuda Triangle, that is home to a group of Atlantean separatists. Xebel is the home of Mera (Amber Heard), and in the comics, she was betrothed to Nereus, before being sent on her mission to kill Aquaman, instead becoming his queen.
From that DC Comics lore, it seems that Dolph Lundgren and Jason Mamoa may have some exciting aquatic battle scenes in Aquaman. That would be awesome to see, so hopefully, this fight training isn't just for cosmetic reasons. Lundgren is a high-ranking martial artist in addition to being an actor, director, producer, and multiple degree-holding chemical engineer (yup), so we definitely want to see his fight skills on display!
Justice League is now in theaters; Aquaman arrives on December 21, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Wonder Woman 2 on November 1st, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020.
