Gotham’s current Catwoman, Camren Bicondova, was being interviewed on the show when a surprise guest was brought on unbeknownst to Bicondova. The guest was none other than Julie Newmar, who to many is the iconic version of Catwoman from the 1960’s Batman series.
When hosts Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare asked what she was feeling, Camren said: “I’m in shock, because my first comic con that I ever went to you were at the day before I showed up, and I was devastated. I missed her by a day literally, but now I’m sitting next to her! It’s cool, I’m so excited.”
Later on in the conversation, Newmar was asked what she thought of Camren’s portrayal of the character, and if it fit with what she would envision. Newmar praised the starlet, saying: “Shall I say it. She is purrrrrrfection. And you know what I like about Camren? The quality I like most about her is she is serene. Have you noticed that? It’s marvelous, she doesn’t overplay it, she’s just there. She’s very present and with you, and you really believe in her. You’ve got no itsy bootsy … you’re wonderful my dear.”
Camren handled the praise in stride, but you could tell she was trying to keep it cool, saying: “That’s awesome to hear from Julie (pause) Newmar. I’m freaking, I’m screaming on the inside. I’m keeping it really cool right now.”
