You can be born into Hollywood and even into geekdom, but your love for it comes from inside. While Harley Quinn Smith is the daughter of filmmaker and one of the geekiest guys in the world Kevin Smith, and was given a comic book character name at birth, her love of both comics and film are personal and undeniable. The actress is attending Sundance not to promote a film or project, but because she loves movies. She name-drops comics like Umbrella Academy alongside more mainstream things like Supergirl (which she guest-starred on this week) amongst her favorites.
But when it came time to see her namesake, Harley Quinn, come to life on the big screen in Suicide Squad, that could've been a make or break moment. Luckily, Smith enjoyed both Margot Robbie's performance and the movie, now an Oscar-nominated film, as a whole.
"I thought [Robbie] was fantastic! Contrary to what other people seem to think, I actually really love the movie," Smith told Comicbook.com in an interview on a break at Sundance. "I thought it was really great. I don't really see everybody's problem."
The young actress, who in addition to Supergirl recently starred in Yoga Hosers (by her dad) and is looking forward to pursuing acting full time when she graduates High School later this year, went on about Margot Robbie's performance specifically.
"I thought Margot Robbie was fantastic, and I cannot wait to see her reprise the role, because honestly there's not a more perfect person to play Harley Quinn," Smith said - with one caveat, as she added with a laugh, "except if I have the honor one day, but I thought she was fantastic."
You can watch Harley Quinn Smith guest star on last night's Supergirl, directed by her father Kevin Smith, on-demand or on the CW website and app now.
