Henry Cavill might play Superman on the big screen, but turns out that the Justice League star is a hero off screen as well.

This weekend Cavill posted a short video to his Instagram account showing him using a chainsaw to help clear fallen trees and damage from hurricane Irma. While the actor doesn't have super strength of the Man of Steel or even that great of chainsaw skills, Cavill did his best to not only lend a hand, but poke fun at himself for not quite being as helpful as he would have hoped.

"Popped over to Florida to help out some friends. Also got to use a chainsaw for the first time and as you can see it was almost my last time too! Wishing everyone a speedy rebuild process and a chainsaw accident free environment. @HurricaneIrma," Cavill captioned the video.

Hurricane Irma devastated Florida and the Caribbean last week while Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas in late August. The two storms left behind hundreds of billions of dollars of damage and Cavill isn't the only star doing their part to help in the recovery effort. Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds shared a photo on his own Instagram last week of himself on the set of the upcoming Deadpool 2 wearing a shirt supporting fundraising efforts. While he encouraged people to buy a shirt, he also suggested choosing to donate directly to charities of their choice as well.

Kristen Bell has also helped with hurricane recovery. The Frozen actress, who rode out the storm in Florida, took the time to visit community shelters and sing for those taking refuge, offering a brief happy respite for those hunkered down to wait out the storm.
