The Justice League is made up of DC icons, but when it comes to the DCEU version, Wonder Woman is clearly leading the charge.

That’s why it makes the most sense to have the Amazon warrior in the front of Warner Bros. newest banner. Wonder Woman charges ahead with sword in hand with Cyborg, Batman, Flash, and Aquaman following her lead (via Heroic Hollywood). Wonder Woman was always a big part of Justice League, as she helps put the team together alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman. Still, her prominence on the promotional material will likely be getting bolstered thanks to the immense success of her solo film.

Justice League seems to be in the middle of a cloud lately, despite all the promise seen in the early footage and trailers. Most of that comes from the switch of directors, as Zack Snyder stepped off the project due to a personal tragedy. Warner Bros. brought in Batgirl director Joss Whedon to finish the project, but since that transition rumors have pointed to much more than just finishing touches.
Much of that seems to revolve around the film’s villain, who is just now starting to show up on promotional items like toys and accessories. The newly formed League will take on Darkseid’s general Steppenwolf, but if the recent reshoot rumors are true, his role is being greatly expanded upon by Whedon. That isn’t just more screentime either, but rather character details needed to truly be a worthwhile movie villain.
It remains to be seen if Warner Bros. can capitalize on the goodwill from Wonder Woman, their first clearcut success at the box office with the DCEU. While Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was ultimately profitable, it wasn’t the unmitigated success, commercially or critically, that DC and WB wanted. They shifted gears a bit (as well as tone) on Suicide Squad, though it was mostly the same story as BVS. The film again was successful in ticket sales but remained polarizing amongst fans and critics.
Warner Bros. has ambitious plans for their universe, and a successful Justice League is critically important to making it all work.
Justice League is in theaters on November 17, 2017.
