While the Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor) will be one of Legends of Tomorrow's newest foes in Season 3, she is already a pretty familiar face to some Arrowverse fans. And according to one of the show's executive producers, Kuasa's past appearance - in the sophomore season of the Vixen animated series - will be a factor into Legends.
"If you go back and look at Vixen season 2," Guggenheim explained, "I wouldn't exactly call her fighting alongside Ray. She's always been morally questionable."
Kuasa served as an antagonist in Vixen's second season, facing off against her sister and the modern-day Vixen, Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke). After being stopped by Mari, Ray, and Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), Kuasa joined the heroes in their fight against Eshu, and ultimately died in the process.
According to Guggenheim, Kuasa's sacrifice won't be lost on Ray, and will have a hand in how he and the remainder of the Legends - particularly Kuasa's grandmother, Amaya Jiwe/Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers).
"I think that's what makes it interesting as far as Amaya is concerned," Guggenheim elaborated, "is that Ray, at the appropriate moment, will accurately tell her that there were moments where Kuasa was capable of selfless good. So I think that gives Amaya a little bit of hope."
Before the Kuasa potentially changes her ways, she will help create a new villain team with some of the Arrowverse's most noteworthy antagonists, including Damien Darhk and Gorilla Grodd. But her ties to the Legends - particularly Amaya and Ray - are sure to make the fight against that team even more interesting.
Legends of Tomorrow returns to Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., following new episodes of The Flash, in October.
Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau's authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau's capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.
