Report: Gold PlayStation 4 Slim Model Confirmed for June 9 Release

Remember our report a couple days ago that Sony might be releasing a new golden PS4 Slim? Well today another champion has risen on Reddit and confirmed that a golden PS4 is indeed on the way, and it is indeed coming this month.

The image above was posted by Reddit user Sliye. "Some of you may already know, or maybe not. But I work at target and it looks like the PS4 gold is coming June 9th. Shows up on our equipment."

This humble author used to work at Target as well, and the "equipment" he's talking about would be those super cool little hip scanners that the Target floor reps carry around. Those scanners, apart from looking like taser guns, can scan products and give reps a brief summary of what the thing is and where it should be placed in the store. If Target has received an official sale date of June 9, then that's very likely when we'll see these guys hit the shelves.

While Sliye didn't give us an official price, another user in the same thread stated that the golden PS4s hit shelves at Walmart a little early, and they were able to snag a picture of the box with a pricetag of $250 attached:

The newer PlayStation 4 models have been going for about $250 for the 500GB models, and those usually come bundled with a game. In the image we see that this is a 1TB model and a standalone console, so the price seems right. This will be a great option for those who are late to the PS4 party, and will a great option for those looking to kick up their game (pun intended) this summer.
