The gaming community can be a powerful force for good in many ways. Blizzard's World of Warcraft continues on that network of being a positive presence in the real world as the annual pet charity kicks off once more, ahead of its usual BlizzCon reveal, with an adorable new Fox companion.

Every year Blizzard hosts a yearly pet specifically for the aims of charity support such as Make-A-Wish and Red Cross Disaster Relief. As natural disasters continue to affect the lives of people around the world, as well as the very recent strings of vicious hurricanes, the annual charity housing adorable fictitious animals is coming a little early this year. Meet Shadow the Fox, a cuddly purple companion that can shift between Shadow and Light:

This little guy comes with a $10 adoption fee, with proceeds being split between the American Red Cross Disaster Relief and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Disaster Relief Fund. 100% of the proceeds are split equally between the two that helps not only those affected by the hurricanes in the United States, but victims of dangerous natural disasters world-wide. With many charities on-board to help where they can, this is a cute way for World of Warcraft players to give back with their in-game counterparts.

Donations and Shadow adoptions are available from now until December 31st. To learn more about Shadow and how you can adopt this little guy for yourself, you can check out Blizzard's site right here.
