Armored Core Celebrating 20th Anniversary With Live Stream This Week

From Software is a developer that has become known for some of the toughest games ever made, including Bloodborne and the Dark Souls trilogy, as well as the cult classic Demon's Souls. But before it made its way into these hellish worlds, it had a much different franchise making the rounds – Armored Core.

This robotic action series first made its debut on the original PlayStation back in 1997, and has seen a number of sequels since that time, with a huge cult following. We haven't seen a new game from the developer since Armored Core: Verdict Day came out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2013, but we're probably overdue for a new entry.

While we won't be getting that – yet – it appears that we will be getting a special live stream to celebrate the anniversary of the original game. Starting tomorrow, the developer will be hosting a special live stream called Armored Core Suite 02 that will broadcast on the Nico Nico Channel, with several game developers in tow, including composer Kota Hoshino.

The live stream will be a focus primarily on the soundtrack for the series, although we're sure to get some great stories regarding development of some of the fans' most favorite games.

One thing you probably shouldn't expect, though, is any sort of new game announcement. From Software already made it clear that it doesn't expect to have any new information on games or sequels, though it did already confirm that a new title was already in the works last year. (Only to be followed by a "non-confirmation," stating it wasn't in the works.)

While this live stream probably won't be as eventful as the Mega Man live stream that's taking place tomorrow as well, it should be a fun little throwback for fans of the series that grew up customizing their mechs and having a go against other players.

We'll let you know what information does emerge from the live stream, but don't expect any sort of breaking news – just a fun throwback to robot bashing action. Hey, we'll take that any day that we can get it.
