Ark Survival Evolved

Those planning on purchasing an Xbox One X will be able to see Ark: Survival Evolved in a new, better-looking way now that several enhancements for the dinosaur game have been confirmed by Studio Wildcard.

Ark is just one of many games that have made plans to utilize the power of the Xbox One X, but it's the first game of its kind to do so. While fighting and working alongside dinosaurs and other creatures and trying to gather resources to survive, expect to see the massive beasts and the environments in a much clearer picture thanks to enhanced graphics.

"Ark on the Xbox One X will feature HDR and two graphics modes," an update from the game's site explained. "The first is a Detailed Graphics version with 1440p resolution and Truesky (which is the equivalent to High quality on the PC) at 30fps. The second is a 1080p mode which equates to the current Xbox One graphics, with improved 60fps."

While the graphics will likely be the improvements that players notice most, the post explains that there are other enhancements to look forward to as well. The Xbox One X has quite a bit more RAM than the Xbox One, so many memory issues and related problems shouldn't be quite as common on the upgraded console. A better hard drive will also allow for quicker load times and better streaming, but the host tether will not be fully removed.

"The Xbox One X will eliminate the host tether in local splitscreen mode and will increase the tether range in non-dedicated mode," the post explained. "Unfortunately we were unable to remove the tether completely due to CPU limitations, but we hope that players will benefit from the increased range."

Outside of the Xbox One X enhancements, the post also reiterated that the Xbox Play Anywhere and cross-play features are delayed until November. The features are being pushed back in order to make sure that BattlEye will be functioning on the platform, an anti-cheating service that's used by other games such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

The Xbox One has a patch for Ark: Survival Evolved coming on Oct. 25, so expect to see the game preparing for the Xbox One X quite soon.
