It's always sad to see a member of the video game industry pass away, especially at a young age.

Today, BioWare confirmed the passing of lead designer Corey Gaspur, who had worked for the company for a long period of time. He started his career as a developer at Propaganda Games, working on the modernization of Turok for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, before moving on to BioWare in 2007.

From there, he established a storied career with the developer, working in many roles, including gameplay designer and lead combat designer for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, as well as Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, as well as its respective downloadable content.

Gaspar's last role with the company involved working on the development of Anthem as the lead gameplay designer.

Casey Hudson, who recently returned to the company after a long absence away, noted "So sad to have lost a member of the BioWare family. Corey Gaspur was an amazing designer and friend. I will miss him greatly."

The company noted, "Corey was a talented designer and an even better person. We offer our condolences to Corey's family and everyone that knew him. We will miss you."

Our condolences are with Corey's family and friends as well.
