The theological 2D brawler Fight of Gods has expanded it's growing roster by adding additional characters to the list of religious and mythological fighters.

The newest members to join the fighting game are Sif, Athena, Guan Gong, and Anubis, additions that are showcased in the reveal trailer shown above. With the list of fighters available to play as in Fight of Gods now at six with the addition of these four new characters, the variety of characters and the areas that they come from is a promising trend for later additions to the game.

After weeks of fan speculation over "Which God's Next?", developer Digital Crafter is pleased to announce the latest additions to the Fight of Gods roster," said the game's developer Digital Crafter in a press release released on Wednesday. "Ancient Egyptian god of the underworld Anubis, legendary Chinese warrior Guan Gong, Norse earth goddess Sif and Grecian goddess of wisdom, Athena, will officially be joining Odin and Zeus in the PC fighting juggernaut due out this autumn.

When the title was first announced, the only two playable characters were Zeus and Odin. The game features many common elements of similar 2D fighters but with a godly twist. There's no way of knowing yet which additional fighters will be added to the roster, but it does seem that Digital Crafter is taking consumer opinion into much consideration as they add to the list of fighters.

Since it's in the very stages of development — there's no expected release date listed at this time — there isn't much information about the actual gameplay or news of what would make it stand apart from other fighting games. The Steam page for the game discusses gameplay elements such as anti-air attacks, throws, and special moves that pertain to each character's mythology, and it also mentions that the fighting will take place in fitting environments such as Mount Olympus and the Garden of Eden.

However, the inclusion of mythology and godly characters may be enough on its own to drive an interest in the game. Despite not having an exact release date, the game is projected to be released sometime during Autumn of this year.
