Last week we were able to show off a few incredible-looking premier skins for Injustice 2. Old school DC Comics fans were so pleased to see Mr. Freeze, Jay Garrick Flash, John Stewart Green Lantern, and Vixen. Today we finally get to see a premier skin fighter in action, as intro scenes from Vixen are released along with some gameplay (which we'll see further down). Check it out:
YouTuber Dante Chris (AKA SpadezOfAce) has uploaded all of these intro dialogues, confirming that when a fighter has a premier skin option, that premier skin has his or her own voice actor and dialgogue separate from the fighter from whom they're derived. This is a relief, as it would be pretty strange to hear Captain Cold's voice coming out of Mr. Freeze's mouth. While shared dialogue may work with some skins like Jay Garrick Flash, we're happy to know that NetherRealm was willing to go the extra mile when necessary.
As for Vixen, she gets the same deep-lore treatment as any of the other core roster characters. Her alliances and rivalries are still alive and well, and though Cheetah proves to be a highly capable foe to the Justice League in its attempt to stop Brainiac and Grodd's Society, Vixen is numbered among their many friends.
It's also interesting to note that, while the dialogue and voice actress have changed, the moveset and animations stay exactly the same. This is a premier skin, after all, and not an entirely new character. Thankfully most of the premier skin characters are taking after heroes and villains who have ready-made powers and fighting styles.
If you'd like to see that moveset in action then you'll be happy to know that another video was uploaded showing some Vixen gameplay against a fully suped-up Batman. Keep scrolling down to watch them brawl.
Here we can see Vixen in action, and this is the only evidence you'll need to prove that premier skins are sometimes the smarter choice, over developing and spending the resources to create an entirely new character. Look how well Cheetah's moveset translates and how perfectly it fits for Vixen's character:
If you're a long-time comic book reader, then you probably know that Vixen has the power to tap into the Earth's morphogenetic field, and adapt the powers and abilities of any animal she chooses. This can give her all kinds of superhuman powers and lead to a variety of fighting styles, but Cheetah's moveset doesn't come across as at all restrictive.
Vixen is an accomplished martial artist in addition to her adaptive powers, and Cheetah's combos highlight her versatility.
So what do you think? Is Vixen shaping up to be the coolest premier skin character, or is there another one you want to see gameplay of even more? Weigh in on the poll below and tell us which Premier Skin you want to see in action next. Maybe we can make it happen.prevnext
