League Of Legends' New Pentakill Album Is At No. 5 Spot In iTunes Store

League of Legends' very own metal band known as Pentakill just released their sophomore album, and the collection of songs has already made its way to the top of certain iTunes charts.

Within the iTunes store, if you sort by genre to find your music, you might find something interesting nestled in among some familiar names, maybe a group you've never heard of. Listed at No. 5 in the current ranking of Metal albums in the store behind Wage War, Metallica, In This Moment, and Stone Sour, you'll find Pentakill's Grasp of the Undying.

With an ensemble of Karthus, Yorick, Sona, and other League of Legends champions, the idea of a video game's music album beating out other well-known artists, at least for a little while, may seem absurd. But if you look at the group that's actually singing and playing the instruments for the 10-track album, it's no wonder that the recent reveal has climbed its way to the top so quickly.

With Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe, former Nine Inch Nails member Danny Lohner producing and providing vocals, Noora Louhimo from Battle Beast providing the first female vocals for the group, and Jorn Lande providing the powerful vocals for Karthus, Pentakill is far from a made-up band. That's only some of the talent that went into Grasp of the Undying as well – the full group of artists who collaborated to create the album brings together plenty of prominent members of the music industry, if the above names weren't enough to testify to that.

But at the core of the album is Riot Games and their own sound geniuses that continue to pump out stellar songs for every League of Legends occasion that calls for it. From full-fledged albums like these to the songs that overlay the login-screens for different champions, one of the more recent ones being Urgot's brutal login, Riot Games continues to show that their immensely successful MOBA is more than just a computer game.
