There are some players out there that were convinced that Mass Effect: Andromeda just wasn't that great a game when it released earlier in the year – even though I've noted otherwise. That said, if you've been waiting for a good opportunity to try the game out without putting money down on it, here's your chance.

Electronic Arts and BioWare have announced that they have released a free, lengthy demo for the game that will give you an idea of what it's all about, both in the single player aspect and with its multiplayer. The demo will last a good ten hours, and is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

If it sounds like the demo is a bit familiar, that's because a similar one was released for EA Access on Xbox One and Origin Access on PC, giving players a chance to explore a solo planet and play a few rounds with friends on multiplayer.

EA has noted that whatever progress you make over the course of the ten hour demo will be saved, so if you do decide to upgrade to the full game, it'll carry over with no problem, so you won't have to start all the way over at the beginning.

You can download the demo here for PC, here for PlayStation 4 and here on Xbox One. All you need to do is look for the free trial option, which should be listed next to the full purchase price, and you'll be able to download.

In addition, BioWare has also released a new trailer for Andromeda, which shows you just what the game is about in terms of which characters you'll be able to interact with, as well as what planets you'll get to explore. It really sets the stage pretty well for what the game has to offer, in case you didn't catch it already. You can see it above.

Even with its criticisms – and the doubt that we'll see any kind of DLC for itMass Effect: Andromeda is a worthwhile adventure for fans of the series, even with its slightly new approach.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Origin PC.
