Bandai Namco shows off the first images and details of their upcoming virtual reality project Sword Art Online: Replication.The new reveal came courtesy of the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival going on right now in Akihabara, Tokyo. The upcoming VR title was first presented at the Tokyo Game Show, but no actual details were revealed at the time. Now we have a look at some of the concept art and 3D models that will be in Replication.

From the panel, fans of the hit anime learned that they will be able to assume the role of a hero that is sworn to protect Mist, the heroine of Aincrad. The stage set for this new VR game will take place during the first series, for those that are familiar; it's when the death game was still ongoing.

As of right now, we only have these first little teasers. No release window or full storyline details have emerged for Sword Art Online: Replication. For those that will be in attendance at Tokyo Skytree, there will be a public demo set up for basic testing of the game from December 8th until December 10th. It's a simple test, so don't expect to get much more beyond the allocated 15 minutes of hands on experience.

Sword Art Online: Replication does not have a release date at this time.
