Developers Level-5 announced today in a press release that the game would now be scheduled for a March 23 release, just over two months from when it was expected to be released on Jan. 19. After stating that the development of the new game was “coming along very well” and reaffirming his excitement to share the game and the new Skirmish and Kingdom modes with players, Level-5 CEO and president Akihiro Hino explained their reasoning behind the new delay.
“However with innovation and new ideas come the need to ensure everything works together in a fun and cohesive package. This means we’ll need a bit more time to make sure the entire Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom experience meets Level-5 and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.’s high quality standards. So today I would like to ask for everyone’s patience as we move Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom‘s worldwide release date to 23rd March, 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and PC. We will be sharing more news about Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom in the coming weeks and months as we move closer to our new launch date. On behalf of everyone at Level-5, I want to thank you all for your patience and continued support”
Despite the unfortunate news that the game would be delayed, a new trailer for the game was also released that should help hold over fans until the game’s release. The trailer shows off the Japanese voiceover for the game with a description that restates some of the information from the game’s delay.
This delay doesn’t mark the first occasion that the game’s release date has been pushed back though. Back in July, Hino told fans that the game required more development and would have to be pushed back until Jan. 19. He also clarified some statemetns that he recently made about the game’s online components by saying that the game would include online updates as opposed to multiplayer action.
