One of the best-selling games of all time is free with PlayStation Plus for the next 24 hours. The game in question is specifically the 15th best-selling game ever released, which is the result of selling 41 million units, in this case, since 2016. Suffice to say, you may already own the game on PS4 or PS5, but if you don’t, then this is a great opportunity to remedy this.

More specifically, between now and October 7, PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium subscribers on both PS4 and PS5 can download Stardew Valley for free, and keep it as long as an active PlayStation Plus subscription is maintained. If this is not retained, then access to the game will be blocked unless you purchase it through the normal process on the PlayStation Store or renew your subscription to any tier of the Sony subscription service.

Other Free PlayStation Plus Games
Stardew Valley is free as part of September 2025’s free PlayStation Plus games lineup alongside two other games. These other two games will also revert to their normal prices on October 7. That said, they and Stardew Valley will be replaced with three new free games for the month of October.
As for Stardew Valley, for those unfamiliar with it, it is a cozy farming sim, a life and social sim meets exploration game. It is often credited with resurrecting the farming sim genre and pioneering the cozy games space. Upon release, the game — made by solo developer ConcernedApe — garnered an 89 on Metacritic, making it one of the highest-rated games of 2016. Those who get it for free with PS Plus are getting a game with well over 150 hours of content.
