Report: First Wave Of Original Xbox Games To Become Backwards Compatible Leaked

The backwards compatibility program for the Xbox One lets players enjoy over 400 360 titles on this generation. This was a great move for those that no longer have their Xbox 360s yet miss some of their favourites. With it popularity, the conversation soon shifted to "well, can we have original Xbox games come too" and the team over at Microsoft immediately started working on it.

Xboss Phil Spencer has repeatedly assured fans that they are diligently working on this feature and it looks like it might be coming sooner than we originally thought. One Twitter user, who has been credited with accurate intel in the past regarding Microsoft, has recently revealed an image that allegedly shows the first wave of original Xbox games that will be made available for this generation via the backwards program.

Bethesda has made it clear that they are down with this program, so it's possible we'll see Morrowind tacked on later. Just like the 360 program, titles will be gradually added over time, but for now - here is the list provided of games that are allegedly coming to the next phase of backwards compatibility:

  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

  • Ninja Gaiden: Black

  • Red Faction II

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

  • Grabbed by the Ghoulies

  • Psychonauts

  • Dead to Rights

  • Crimson Skies

  • Fuzion Frenzy

  • Sid Meier's Pirates!

  • BloodRayne 2

  • The King of Fighters: NeoWave

There hasn't been any official word as to when the original games will be making their way onto this program, but several leaks have indicated that it could be a soon as November 7th. Take that with a grain of salt, nothing is set in stone until Microsoft themselves confirm it. Until then, we'll just have to wait and see what else is in store.
