Look, we're all interested to see how virtual reality is going to change the way that we educate, explore, grow, and evolve, but in the meantime... We just want to pilot giant f#^@ing robots. That's why were excited to report that Archangel is headed to PlayStation VR and will empower us to do just that. Skydance Interactive president Peter Akemann took to the PlayStation Blog today to tell us a little more about Archangel, which will be PSVR-bound in July. After a two weeks of PlayStation exclusivity, it will be released on other platforms.

"Let us set the stage: a world ravaged by natural disasters. A corporatized, tyrannical United States where the government and freedom of the people no longer exist. With this in mind, strap on your PlayStation VR headset and prepare for battle.

"In Archangel, you'll discover that you've been selected by the United States Free Forces, the resistance, to pilot a one-of-a-kind weapon: a six-story high war machine built to destroy. You're dropped into the cockpit of a giant mech to lead your squadron into battle against HUMNX, a private conglomerate that governs what little is left of a ravaged America."

Sounds pretty epic, but we're hear for the robots. Let's hear a little more about controlling giant mechs there, Pete.

"Grab the controls and watch as your own two massive mech hands surge to life! Fire at will on your enemies with an incredible array of high-powered weapons, or punch a plane from the sky with one hand while machine-gunning a hovercopter with the other — all without breaking a sweat."

Throughout the game you'll be fighting through waves of enemies while protecting your AI allies, or while your allies protect you. There will be some very light RPG elements here are you gain experience, level up, and upgrade your mech to become more powerful. Pete promises immersive visuals, explosive gameplay, and a compelling story when Archangel lands in a few weeks, so prepare your trigger fingers and go buy some nausea patches.
