It was hardly a well-kept secret at this point, but Sony has made it official – they’ll be launching a swanky gold special edition 1TB PlayStation 4 Slim later this week. Even better? For a limited time this shiny new model will only cost $250, a nice $50 discount on what a 1TB PS4 is usually priced.

The existence of the gold PS4 was leaked earlier this week by a Redditor who caught a glimpse of the new machine at their retail job and managed to snap a picture. Later, we got a more solid confirmation, when Target included the gold system in their latest flier, along with the $250 dollar price tag.

The gold PS4 is part of Sony’s broader Days of Play sales event, which runs from June 9 to 17. During that time Sony will be offering daily deals on all things PlayStation. Here’s what Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe president Jim Ryan had to say about the promotion:

“The PlayStation Store will see something cheap every day. We’re intrigued to see how people respond to the event at a time that’s traditionally very quiet for games. We’re going to have some really good deals.”

Of course, June 9 to 17 also overlaps with E3 – may as well turn excitement over the big announcements into sales! Sony hasn’t provided any further word on what deals they’ll be offering, so you’ll just have to keep an eye out. Oh, and the $250 price for the gold PS4 will only last until the end of the Days of Play even on June 17, at which point it will revert to the regular $300 MSRP for a 1TB PS4, so jump on the lower price when you can.
