Pokemon Go Fest's Challenge Thresholds Manually Changed In Front Of Players

Those players who have been reading up on Pokemon Go Fest before the event launched to a lackluster reception, to say the least, will be up to speed on the various challenges that players were faced with, challenges that included catching a certain number of Pokemon within a timeframe and defeating Legendary Pokemon during some difficult raids. It seems that these in-game challenges are being tweaked a bit due to real-world technical challenges to make the goals more obtainable as players are reporting seeing the thresholds of the challenges being changed manually on-screen at the Chicago festival.

While plenty of players were likely able to see similar pictures to the one shown here, Reddit user OsamaBinNoodles uploaded a photo to r/TheSilphRoad that showed the thresholds for the goals of the Catch Challenge being changed right in front of them. The Redditor noted that the picture shown below was captured from the Team Valor lounge, saying that all of the other screens that could be seen nearby were normal without any kind of extra windows on-screen.

If you can't make out the text from the photo, the top of the smaller window reads "Set Progress Bar Thresholds," a clear indicator as to what the window is for. A "Manual Control" option in the top-right corner is also present, and given the areas of the table that have been filled out already, it looks like each one of the thresholds for Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers of the different Pokemon Types are all being changed.

It may not be too much of a surprise to many that the Catch Challenge goals are being changed given that the other two challenges rely on the completion of this first one. Many players expected Niantic to create a system in which players could advance to the next challenge within certainty so that the ultimate goal of a Legendary Pokemon could be achieved, but it just wasn't expected that it'd be done out in the open for everyone to see.

According to more comments in the initial thread, players also witnessed the same thing happening during the first 30-minute challenge window. The original poster also commented later on that, after the photo was taken, more adjustments were made to each of the thresholds which prompted more users to take pictures.
