But certain catches, particularly Mythical Pokemon acquired through Special Research, aren’t supposed to be able to run away from you. This helps ensure that those ultra rare catches won’t evade trainers who put in the work to unlock these encounters. But lately, Pokemon Go players are seeing their worst nightmares come true as rare Mythical Pokemon like Keldeo seemingly flee from their one and only shot at catching them. The Tales of Transformation season in Pokemon Go is giving trainers a shot at catching Keldeo. This Pokemon is currently featured in a season-long Special Research, which earns rainers who don’t already have this Mythical Pokemon a special encounter. Just one encounter. Which is why some trainers are absolutely floored as Keldeo seems to be fleeing from these Special Research encounters in Pokemon Go. Special Research encounters like these should be locked from having the Pokemon flee, leaving players wondering just what is going on.
Pokemon Go Glitch Causes Keldeo To Flee, But You Didn’t Actually Miss Your Chance
With the current Tales of Transformation Special Research, trainers who don’t already have Keldeo can unlock an encounter with it. Though the research will last all season, the Keldeo encounter is fairly early in the research path. Trainers who complete the full first step in the Tales of Transformation Special Research will get an encounter with Keldeo. And most trainers expect it to be a guaranteed catch per usual, but thanks to an apparent glitch, Keldeo does appear to flee in some instances.
Several trainers are watching the Mythical Pokemon run for its life, which shouldn’t be possible for these ultra rare Pokemon Go encounters. Thankfully, it is just a visual glitch, and you haven’t actually missed your shot at the one and only Keldeo you’re allowed to catch. This glitch isn’t entirely new, but it’s making the rounds again as players watch in horror as the Mythical Pokemon seemingly evades them.
Many players report an easy way to assuage your fears if this Keldeo fleeing glitch happens to you. Although the glitch makes it appear that Keldeo ran away, the game likely did register it as a catch. To confirm, you can try two things. First, you can simply go to your Pokemon storage and search for Keldeo. More likely than not, you will see your Keldeo there, even though it looked like it got away. You may need to restart the app first, but it should appear in storage. You can also check your journal in the Pokemon Go profile area. It should show the event “Keldeo was caught!” even though the glitch made it seem to flee.
It’s certainly no fun to see a once-in-a-save-file Pokemon like Keldeo run away in Pokemon Go. Thankfully, however, this is just a visual glitch and not one that actually causes you to miss out on the Mythical Pokemon. Hopefully, the issue will be fixed soon, but rest assured that your Keldeo catch should be safe regardless. Keep in mind that if you already caught Keldeo during its previous appearance in Pokemon Go, this encounter won’t be available. Currently, trainers can only have one Keldeo in their Pokemon Go storage. If you already have one, you will instead earn Keldeo Candy at this stage in the research path.
