Pretty much since Pokemon Go first arrived, there have been plenty of ways to spend Poke Coins, but few ways to earn them. This in-game currency is the key to unlocking storage upgrades for Pokemon and items, along with other helpful tools like Incubators and beyond. However, the only really reliable way to get Poke Coins is to buy them with actual, real-life money. For years, free-to-play Pokemon Go fans have been asking for other, more reliable ways to grind some in-game Poke Coins. And a new leak suggests that the October Go Pass might just bring us one, at least for next month.

Currently, the primary way to earn extra Poke Coins is by placing Pokemon in gyms. Once your Pokemon is defeated and returned to you, you’ll earn some coins based on how long they were defending the gym. However, there’s a daily cap to the coins you can earn this way. So, whether you have 10 Pokemon in a gym or one, you can only earn so much in a day. The same goes for Pokemon like my poor Vaporeon, who linger in rural gyms for months until someone finally kicks them out. This longstanding frustration may not be remedied any time soon, but a new leak suggests that October’s Pokemon Go Pass might include a new way to earn Poke Coins.
Pokemon Go October Go Pass Leak Suggests Players Could Earn Up to 400 Free Poke Coins Next Month
According to a new image shared by Pokemon Go information account Furianocturna Go, we might have an early look at the October Go Pass. This monthly battle pass is a relatively new addition to Pokemon Go that lets players complete a series of tasks each month to unlock rewards. It features a free track and a Premium track, with the paid option offering better rewards compared to the free Go Pass. But if this leak proves correct, even the free Pokemon Go Pass for October could include a ton of Poke Coins for players to earn.
Furianocturna Go is a Spanish-language Pokemon Go account, so the leak requires a bit of translation. Even so, one element of the supposed Go Pass rewards for October immediately caught players’ eyes. The pass will supposedly include the opportunity to earn 400 Poke Coins (PokeMonedas in the original post). If true, this would be a pretty exciting opportunity compared to what we’ve seen with earning Poke Coins in the past.
Of course, even if this info is accurate, it’s likely it will take several tasks to unlock the total 400 Poke Coin reward. That means not every free player will be able to earn them before the month ends. Even so, trainers are pretty excited to see this potential reward on the table for next month.
While this leak is not yet confirmed, we do have some evidence to back up the claim. During the initial tests for the Pokemon Go Pass, some players had rewards that included Poke Coins. So, it’s clear that Niantic was at least considering adding Poke Coins as one of the potential rewards in the battle pass at one point. Whether it will finally arrive in October or be exactly 400 coins, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from Niantic to know.
400 Coins for free players is pretty exciting on its own. However, many are noting that the Premium Pass reward is pretty generous, too. If you can truly earn 1400 Poke Coins on the Premium track, that’s a pretty steep discount, making the coins just $8. And the coins are just one potential reward, alongside the other offerings, including an encounter with the Legendary Pokemon, Terrakion.
We’ll likely get confirmation about the October Go Pass contents in Pokemon Go soon enough, as the next pass should unlock near the start of October. Given the October 7th date for the September Go Pass, it may not be until a few days into the month. That said, September brought us the Timed Incubator, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see another new addition with October’s lineup.
