Report: Capcom Could Be Announcing Okami HD At Tokyo Game Show

While most of the big gaming events of the year are already behind us, there's still a pretty good one coming up later this month – the Tokyo Game Show. And with it, Capcom could be harboring a surprise that will no doubt give it some attention this holiday season.

The show, which takes place on September 21-24, begins just two days after the company releases Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. And considering that the only other big holiday release it has coming up is Dead Rising 4: Frank's Big Package, it may be holding off on a surprise title to go along with it – and it could be Okami HD.

The title was first hinted at last month, when a retailer outed the title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was originally released on PlayStation 3 a few years ago, following its port from the PlayStation 2 to the Nintendo Wii. So, needless to say, the title's gotten around.

But that's not all – more evidence has appeared, with the Korean Ratings Board providing an official rating for the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as PC. This indicates that an announcement could come at any given time, though the Tokyo Game Show seems very likely, considering the popularity of the franchise in Japan.

Capcom is staying mum, but the company has made note in the past that fans really like re-releases, and have been making good on delivering some of these experiences on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, including The Disney Afternoon Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, and Resident Evil: Revelations, all of which have gotten good attention from their fanbases. So an Okami announcement just makes sense, and will give fans something to get excited over if it does make its way to release later this year.
