Spider-Man Presentation Literally Caught Fire At E3 Yesterday

We knew that Spider-Man was a rather hot commodity at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year – but we had no idea that he would literally catch fire.
That's exactly what happened yesterday at the E3 Coliseum. Well, it wasn't a raging fire, mind you, and no one got injured, but it was interesting enough that it took place during Insomniac Games' presentation for Spider-Man.
The presentation began as normal, with various Insomniac staff, including creative director Bryan Intihar, sitting down and talking about the game. But just a few minutes in, members of the audience began yelling out "Fire!"
Of course, at first, there was no noticeable fire to speak of, but then staffers began seeing the smoke coming from one of the spotlights above the screen display. (You can kind of see in the video above, off to the right hand side.) Fortunately, it didn't look to be that big a deal, as it was just smoking at the moment and not setting the screen on fire or anything like that.
Intihar decided to joke, "This game is super hot," and the panel went on as normal, with Ryan Penagos, vice president and executive editor for Marvel Digital Media, continuing to address a question. However, just to play it safe, the public address announcer cut him off and noted that the panel would be put on hold while the stage staff could take care of the fire problem.
Fortunately, the audience didn't have to wait that long for the matter to be resolved. The fire took a few minutes to put out, the light was replaced, and the panel took place again just a half hour later at 5 PM PDT, with all of the panelists reintroduced. Needless to say, Spider-Man did not catch fire again, so the inferno puns were kept to a minimum.
No word yet if Green Goblin was spotted on the scene, but come on – clearly he had something to do with this. Or maybe Doc Ock. Sounds like a job for the heroic webslinger!
Spider-Man will release sometime in 2018 for PlayStation 4. Then, of course, the game will truly be hot fire!
