Star Citizen is an incredibly expansive space simulator game that even thought it's not even fully out yet, provides a stunning experience for PC gamers. Cloud Imperium Games has been going above and beyond to make sure this game is 100% ready to launch with constant backer updates and new tweaks to the overall title. The latest backer update has an interesting angle this time - players can now buy plots of virtual land that technically doesn't exist yet - and for up to 100 dollars!

Each land right sold will cost the player 50 bucks, even though neither the planets, nor the land itself, is accessible. That $50 will get players a single four kilometer square plot of land that they will be able to build upon once everything is settled and ready to go. It can be used to casual, residential purposes - or for more productive means to facilitate commerce. Whichever way the player chooses, the choice begins with $50.

"These claim licenses are being made available for pledging to help fund Star Citizen's development. The ability to obtain these claim licenses will ultimately be available for in-game credits and/or otherwise earnable through play in the game. Pledging for these claim licenses now allows us to include deeper features in the Star Citizen game, and is not required for starting the game."

There is no set yet as to when the land will become available, nor when they will even become scoutable. For now - we know it's at least on the way and is open to planets, moons, and even asteroids for players to requisition for themselves however they see fit.
