Sometimes, in a rare occurrence, the Internet gets it just right when it comes to nailing something that's really funny in the world of Mortal Kombat.

After all, the fighting in the game is certainly no laughing matter, as foes fight to the death in a number of competitions, most of which end up in a rather gruesome conclusion. Don't believe me? Check out 2011's Mortal Kombat game and its follow-up, Mortal Kombat X, for reference.

Anyway, Ed Boon, the creative director behind the Mortal Kombat series as well as the DC brawling game Injustice 2, recently posted a mother of a GIF that has us laughing like crazy. It's basically a remake of a classic Warner Bros. cartoon where Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck argue about whether it's duck season or rabbit season while an impatient Elmer Fudd stands by, shotgun in hand.

Only this time, it's Goro from the original Mortal Kombat and Motaro from Mortal Kombat 3 arguing, with signs going back and forth between arguing that it's Shokan Season (Goro), or Centaur Season (Motaro).

"Centaur season!" Boon noted in his retweet from NowWeAreNowhere. "No, Shokan season! #MortalKombat" You can see the tweet and the GIF in the image below.

It's nice to see Boon refer back to his original gaming series, even with all the stuff that's surrounding Injustice 2 right now, including the newly announced Fighter Pack 2 that includes the likes of classic Mortal Kombat character Raiden, as well as the vicious Black Manta and the unpredictable Hellboy. There's other updates coming for the game as well, though they haven't been fully detailed yet. But, yes, we're watching out for hints.

In the meantime, enjoy the GIF above and have a laugh with Mortal Kombat for a change. And if you need to see the original cartoon for reference, not to worry, as we've got that as well. It's good fun, although it's a bit altered from the original – but you get the idea.

(By the way, it's really Elmer Season.)

Oh, and go play Mortal Kombat X now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4!
