Yesterday during a special Injustice 2 charity match between Steve Aoki and Rick Fox, it was revealed during the Twitch stream that a special Wonder Woman movie event will be coming to the console and mobile version of the game. Starting on May 29, players will be able to fight through a special Multiverse event ‘to end all wars,’ and if successfully completed, a new set of epic gear for Wonder Woman based off of the movie will be earned. For those of you who don’t know, the Multiverse is a special single-player mode in Injustice 2 where players are required to fight through a series of matches with special conditions, sometimes using specific characters. For tougher Multiverse challenges, special modifiers will be in place which may add special environmental hazards or boons for the player and their opponent.
While it wasn’t specified, we’re assuming that this particular Multiverse event will have to be played through using Wonder Woman, and there will probably be some surprise villain or partner cameos throughout the stages that tie in with the movie. While it may not include brand new characters as actual fighters, there’s a chance that new characters are tied in as assist powers, the same way Constantine showed up as an assist power in another Multiverse challenge.
It was also confirmed during the stream that this new epic gear will be available as random drops after the conclusion of the event, so even if you don’t participate you still have a chance to unlock this movie-inspired armor. The only way you’re guaranteed to unlock it, however, is to participate in (and complete) this limited-time Multiverse event.
For the mobile version of Injustice 2, the Wonder Woman movie event will kick off on May 30 and run for a month. Players can look forward to an all new character card and epic gear from the movie. For this specific event, no direct tie-ins or synergies between the mobile version and console version of Injustice 2 were announced.
