The cast and crew of Deadpool 2 suffered a tragedy today, when a stunt performer was killed in an on-set accident.

While everyone involved with the film is certainly mourning this terrible loss, there’s been one person that fans have been waiting to hear from, and now franchise star Ryan Reynolds has issued a statement regarding the incident.

As you can read above, Reynolds took a heartfelt and sensitive approach to the issue, both communicating the condolences of the cast and crew – but also making sure to demonstrate the utmost sensitivity to family and friends who knew the performer personally.

Ryan Reynolds Comments on Deadpool 2 Stunt Performer Death

According to reports, the motorcycle stunt rider was thrown into the air when her bike crashed through glass of a ground-floor studioย around Shaw Tower, in Vancouver, whereย Deadpoolย 2ย is currently shooting.

In addition to this statement from Ryan Reynolds, 20th Century Fox also issued a statement on the matter:ย 

“We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”

Finally, the Vancouver police are looking into the matter, and issued the following:ย 

“Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle. VPD officers are at the scene, along with officers from WorkSafeBC. More information will be released when it is available.”

Deadpoolย 2ย will be in theaters on June 1, 2018.ย
