The cast of Deadpool 2 grew a little larger today with the confirmation of a new actor on the set.
Eddie Marsan, who plays Liev Schreiber’s brother on Ray Donovan, confirmed his role on the Deadpool sequel with a post to his Twitter account.
Marsan previously worked with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch on this summer’s Atomic Blonde, possibly paving the way for his involvement in Fox's Marvel movie.
There’s no word on who Marsan is playing yet. His casting wasn’t even made public until he himself revealed it with this picture. Though star Ryan Reynolds has a penchant for making big reveals about the movie’s characters through photos on social media, there are likely to be a few surprises in store for the Merc with a Mouth’s next movie.
Though Cable will be one of Deadpool’s main antagonists in the film, he probably won’t remain adversary for the film’s entirety as the two are destined to become BFFs. Could Marsan be playing one of the film’s mutant villains, rumored to be Black Tom Cassidy? Or is he playing someone else entirely?
It remains to be seen. He could have a major role, he could have a minor role. We won’t know for sure until Fox decides to announce something or until someone snaps a set photo with some revealing information.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters June 1, 2018.
