In the Uprising episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, agent Melinda May experienced what's on the other side, even if it was for a brief amount of time. While she is used to coming close to death on a daily basis, it's another thing entirely to actually return from the dead.

Executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen spoke to EW about May's psyche going forward. While May might be adopting a "business as usual" attitude about the whole thing, it will have reverberations down the line.

"Well, she's May, so she's kind of like, 'Oh, that happened,'" EP Jed Whedon says with a laugh. "But she now has common ground with Coulson, as if they didn't have enough common ground as it is." However, EP Maurissa Tancharoen is quick to add that dying "will impact her life in ways that you may not expect at this point in time."

Coulson feigned death in the original Avengers film, which gave the team a united sense of purpose that they at that point lacked. Even all these years later, there are still some who aren't aware he's still alive, and that doesn't look to end anytime soon.

As Ghost Rider's quest for vengeance brings him into an explosive confrontation with SHIELD, Coulson and Mack must rely on an unlikely ally in their time of desperate need; and Daisy reunites with a familiar face to stop the Watchdogs.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs on ABC Tuesday's at 9 p.m.
