Captain Marvel Director Begins Research For Film
While films like Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War
Much like star Brie Larson (who started researching her role shortly after being cast), directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have started their own research. Fleck, in particular, seems to be looking into the character's military roots, sharing a photo taken at an Air Force base with a jet fully in sight.
The caption reads "Big Thanks to cadets and staff at #usaf", and many will draw the natural conclusion that it has something to do with Carol Danvers, who is known for her piloting skills learned while she was in the Air Force.
This sort of character accuracy is one of the many reasons why Marvel picked them for the job according to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
"We met with lots and lots of people as we always do, and had multiple meetings, and Anna and Ryan just had an amazing way of talking about Carol Danvers and talking about her journey," Feige said. "We want filmmakers that can help us focus on and elevate the character journey so it doesn't get lost amongst the spectacle. And there's going to be a lot of spectacle in the Captain Marvel film."
The character of Carol Danvers is as important as her superhero alter ego, and Feige wants directors to dig into that rich history for themselves.
