The comics community lost another amazing talent today in artist Steve Dillon, who passed away in New York this morning. Dillon was well liked in the industry, and the community has started to react to the news on social media. Glyn Dillon, Steve's younger brother, also confirmed the sad news.

Collaborator Warren Ellis (Gen 13) tweeted out the confirmation of Dillon's passing when he said "I have it confirmed that Steve Dillon has died. Hew was a giant, and will be much missed." Ed Brubaker also posted condolences, saying "Devastated by the Steve Dillon news. Had so many fun nights with him at conventions long past. He had the best dirty jokes."

Much of the reaction has been sincere shock, as it wasn't known that Dillon's health was in question. Creators like Gail Simone, Ron Marz, Peter Milligan, Scott Dunbier, Paul Cornell, and more were all saddened by the news and shared their thoughts on Twitter. We'll keep updating the story as more come in.

Dillon's work is beloved in the comics community and by millions of fans, and for many it was their entryway into comics with books like The Punisher, Hellblazer, and of course, his classic Preacher series with Garth Ennis.

He will be missed.
