Deadpool is big movie star now, but mainstream moviegoers may not know where Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Merc-with-a-Mouth’ actually started from. Deadpool is the creation of comic book creator/artist Rob Liefeld, who was part of the wave of young talents that helped redefine the X-Men universe for the ’90s, before spinning off to help create the Image Comics imprint.
Liefeld has been one of the loudest and longest cheerleaders for Deadpool making the jump from the page to the big screen – so naturally he’s in a celebratory mood this year, after Deadpool set box office records and earned big acclaim, setting up an upcoming sequel film, and all sorts of X-Men movie crossover possibilities for the future.
