The first look at Marvel's Defenders assembled has finally emerged.
The new cover of Entertainment Weekly's magazine puts the heroes side by side on top of a New York City taxi cab.
Charlie Cox is in character as Matt Murdock (Daredevil), with Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones and Finn Jones as Danny Rand (Iron Fist). Check out the photo in the gallery at the bottom of the page!
"Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York," showrunner Marco Ramirez, said. "We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they're in that room together, it's kind of like, 'Oh, s—, who are you?'"
According to EW's time on set, each character will come together despite how little each of them is expecting it. Their first meeting will take place in the offices of Midland Circle. The four heroes find themselves trapped in the middle of a corridor and have to jointly battle their way through a group of enemies. Given Marvel's ability to convey gritty action sequences in stairwalls and hallways, a corridor cage match is more than welcome.
"The Defenders didn't have a 'D' on their belt buckles and a Defenders Tower," head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb said. "We agreed from the very beginning that these folks could at the very end go, 'I never want to see your face again.'" He chose The Defenders characters for Netflix as a way to oppose to the Avengers style of always choosing to come together to save the world. The stubborn bunch of Defenders believe they all work better alone -- except Iron Fist.
The Defenders will premiere on Netflix in the summer of 2017, following Iron Fist's March 17, 2017 debut and followed by The Punisher in late 2017.
