The Disney Fox deal will have significant ripple effects across the industry, but one thing it is not affecting is superhero TV on FOX.

FOX spoke about their selection of shows at the 2018 TCA presentation, and specifically how the Fox Disney deal affects their stance on creating shows based on superheroes in the future. FOX currently has Gotham and The Gifted in their lineup, and don't expect that to change anytime soon.

"How many superhero shows is too many? "We can take as many great ones as they're delivered to us." re: #TheGifted #Gotham etc. #TCA18" (via Linda Ge).

Superhero shows aren't going anywhere, but they also revealed their cautious process when selecting superhero projects (via Danielle Turchiano).

"Walden says Fox is happy with the creative on shows like #Gotham but they don't have anything to announce about the future of DC with Disney/Marvel deal at this time. Thorn says when Fox looks at graphic novel properties, they look at POVs and if the show could exist in a very crowded genre field. So far #Gotham and #TheGifted feel very different to them and they're excited to have both. Walden adds that they'll take as many great superhero shows as are delivered to them."

The good news is that as long as projects come along that differentiate themselves enough from other superhero shows, FOX will continue to be a possible landing spot in the future.

FOX currently has projects from both Marvel and DC, with Gotham in its 4th season and The Gifted just renewed for a 2nd season. The Gifted currently holds an 80.54 in ComicBook.com's composite rankings, while Gotham holds an 80.08.

Gotham airs Thursdays at 8 pm while The Gifted airs Mondays at 9 pm.
