With The Defenders now streaming on Netflix and filming for the second season of Jessica Jones underway fans can't wait to see what's next for the titular heroine after the war for New York is over and she's back to her post-Kilgrave life.
Thanks to the show's star Krysten Ritter, we may have a few hints at what we can expect for the alcoholic, anti-social private investigator. Ritter spoke with Bustle about the highly anticipated sophomore season of the series recently and said that this time around its popularity that a new challenge for Jessica.
"She keeps her circle small because she doesn't want people in her life, so there's no textbook on how to deal with new popularity or eyes on you," Ritter explained and described the situation as "her phone ringing off the hook."
While that sounds like it might be good for her Alias Investigations business it's not great for her personally. With Jessica dealing with the trauma and PTSD stemming from her experiences surrounding Kilgrave — recently surfaced set photos tease that the wicked Purple Man is still tormenting Jessica despite her snapping his neck at the end of the first season — all the attention won't be comfortable. However, Ritter says that audiences shouldn't just assume that the entire issue is Kilgrave or that Jessica is going to simply give up. The second season is going to focus more on what makes Jessica who she is.
"Even in the source material, so much stuff has happened to her. You feel for her ... Every time, you're just like, 'Ugh, she's been through so much.' Yet she still fights. Which is what we love about her," Ritter said. "The first season was in her head and the second season is in her heart."
Jessica Jones season two will air sometime in 2018. The Defenders is streaming now on Netflix.
