Kevin Feige Says Marvel's Next Four Movies Are Very Different and Unique

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be turning 10 years old in 2018, but producer Kevin Feige promises that this film series still has some new tricks to show fans.

Speaking on the red carpet at the world premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, Feige says the third Thor movie is the start of a sequence of films meant to show something different from Marvel Studios.

"All of the next films by design have been built to be very different, to be very unique," Feige says. "Ragnarok, Black Panther, certainly as we get into Infinity War and even Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is nearing the end of their production period right now. All four of those movies are distinct and special and I can't wait for people to see. Thankfully they get to see Ragnarok starting now."

One of the biggest talking points surrounding Thor: Ragnarok, since the first trailer debuted, is how different in tone the film seems when compared to its predecessors, Thor and Thor: The Dark World. The specific voice of director Taika Waititi seems to have come through, and the result is a movie that seems to have more in common with James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy films than either of the previous Thor movies.

Black Panther is another film that attracted immediate attention for being so visually different from past Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. What Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther both have in common is that they are heavily influenced by Jack Kirby, who co-created each film's respective lead character and much of their supporting cast and mythology.
