The pair of Avengers: Infinity War movies are set for release in May of 2018 and 2019, with both of the productions coming together in Georgia. The massive production assembles over 60 key cast members playing heroes to the set of what will take almost a year to film, in total. However, the films won’t be shot at the same time.

Avengers: Infinity War will film directly before its to-be-titled sequel in an effort to keep the sets organized and less confusing. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opened up about the reasoning at a press event for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

“We’re doing them one right after anotherโ€ฆ” Feige told Collider. “It became too complicated to cross-board them like that, and we found ourselvesโ€”again, something would always pay the price. We wanted to be able to focus and shoot one movie and then focus and shoot another movie.”

The Infinity War movies will pack quite a punch when they’re released. While Feige hopes to hold the title of the sequel until after the first film’s release, he did tell members of the press at a Marvel Studios Open House event that Josh Brolin is “killing it” as Thanos. The studio head went on to discuss the impact he knows Thanos has to have on audiences immediately upon introduction and teases that Brolin’s role will leave audiences breathless within “the first minute.”

Infinity War assembles the Avengers for the first time since Age of Ultron, the film which lead to their tearing apart in Captain America: Civil War. Joining them for the first time will be the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are all set for their second theatrical outing in the next couple of weeks with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
