While Gru is quite content with his new life alongside Lucy and the kids, his professional career could be going better. In the newest trailer for Despicable Me 3, it seems the mishandling of Balthazar Bratt (played by Trey Parker) has caused Gru and Lucy to lose their jobs, but luckily there's another opportunity right around the corner.
As fans know, Bratt will be the primary antagonist of the film, but in the new trailer they finally get to meet Gru's twin brother, who's named...wait for it....Dru. Aside from having a full head of blonde hair (something Gru let go of a long time ago), it appears Dru is rather rich and has embraced the legacy of thievery and overall villainy that Gru left behind in the first film. Suffice it to say that might not remain the case for long.
You can watch the full trailer for Despicable Me 3 above, which currently enjoys a 3.25 rating on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings.
The minions also make a much bigger impact in the new trailer, including their ripping of Dru's hall of villains, which has numerous statues of Gru and Dru's predecessors. You can't really be mad at them either, as regardless of gender or hairstyle each one has that unique Gru-esque face. It's truly a sight to behold.
Despicable Me 3 will be directed by Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin, and Eric Guillon, with Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul handling the screenplay. The film stars Steve Carell (Gru / Dru), Kristen Wiig (Lucy Wilde), Miranda Cosgrove (Margo), Dana Gaier (Edith), Nev Scharrel (Agnes), Trey Parker (Balthazar Bratt), Russell Brand (Dr. Nefario), Andy Nyman (Clive), Pierre Coffin (Kevin the Minion / Bob the Minion / Stuart the Minion / additional Minions) and Michael Beattie (The Scar-Faced Man).
Despicable Me 3 is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2017.
